Botox

Botox is an injectable treatment that is approved by the FDA for the correction of lines and wrinkles in the facial area. These wrinkles are often caused by muscle movement over time, and sun damage may also contribute. Botox can smooth away the wrinkles by making the muscles underneath those wrinkles relax.

One of the appeals to this treatment is that it's very fast, about 15 minutes, and easy since it only requires a fine needle and no anesthetic. The treatment process requires the doctor to make a series of small injections, targeting the areas where wrinkles are a problem.

Botox Q & A...

What Does Botox Feel Like?

Most patients say that Botox is not painful. The injections may feel like a mild sting that is over very quickly. Since the Botox injections are done with a very fine needle, there is typically only mild discomfort.

When Will Botox Results Show?

Botox results will be evident within seven days. Many patients will notice a gradual improvement until the full results can be seen at around 10 days to two weeks.

How Long Will Botox Treatment Last?

Botox treatment may be different for each person. In general, most patients have between three and six months of wrinkle relaxation after a Botox treatment. Patients who get regular Botox treatments, without allowing wrinkles to develop again, may be able to get the maximum length of wrinkle and line correction.

What Does the Recovery Process Look Like?

There is no recovery time needed after Botox treatments. Patients should avoid exposure to the sun and should not tug or rub at the treatment site. If there are any small areas of redness after Botox treatment, patients can use concealer to cover them if desired.
